On Co-ops and Creative Freedom

I spent years uploading music to platforms that treated me like a line item. The algorithm decided who heard my work, the payout was pennies, and I had zero say in how anything worked.

When S/NC started forming, I was skeptical — another platform promising to be different. But the difference is structural: we actually own this thing. Decisions go through the members. Revenue splits are transparent. Nobody is optimizing for engagement metrics at the expense of the art.

It's not perfect. Building a co-op is slow, messy, and full of meetings. But I'd rather have a seat at the table than be product on someone else's.
